Orlando Bound! Allegiance Staffing at the ASA Staffing Conference
October 7, 2013 | News Blog
We take our role as a leader in the staffing industry seriously and when we have an opportunity to learn from and engage with other industry leaders we jump on it. This week we’ll be joining the American Staffing Association for Staffing World 2013 in Orlando, Fla.
As the largest, most comprehensive convention and expo in this industry, Staffing World attracts thousands of staffing executives, professionals and innovators. In addition to the educational component, this is also a chance for Allegiance Staffing to be part of the conversation on the future of staffing and how it impacts our customers.
We’ll be hearing from a wide range of speakers on such topics as how to hire top producers; reduce stress and increase sales; new recruiting practices; I-9 problems and solutions; increasing efficiency; and creating a vision for your team. One issue of particular interest to us is the Affordable Care Act – the topic of two programs at the conference.
Even though the employer mandate under the Affordable Care Act was delayed, that doesn’t mean we can rest easy. We need to look ahead to this issue and begin thinking about compliance strategies and how to be best prepared when that piece of the law takes effect. Some of our industry’s experts on the ACA will be sharing information and helping staffing industries understand insurance coverage options for temporary and contract workers.
Also, leading staffing firms of various sizes and representing different sectors will share their plans and strategies for compliance with the “play or pay” provisions of the ACA. This could become a very important distinguishing factor for staffing firms. Those staffing companies that opt to pay a penalty rather than offer insurance could be putting their customers at risk should the IRS determine the client is the actual employer – not the staffing company. That means the client would be responsible for temporary workers’ health insurance.
We’ll be watching this issue of health insurance and ACA compliance very carefully and will share our strategies and how we’re handling this for our customers.
If you’ll be at Staffing World this week, take a minute to chat with Allegiance Staffing owner Tom Landry and keep up with our blog for our take on new developments in the staffing industry.
