Business Apps for Your Phone

Remember when people did business without smartphones? We don’t either. It’s hard to recall a time when we weren’t responding to emails, scheduling meetings and looking up client details with our thumbs.

You can really give your phone a workout over the course of the day. But to maximize productivity and efficiency, check out these business apps – perfect for everyday use.

  1. Faxes? That’s so 2002. Even though most people have eliminated the fax machine from their office, on occasion someone requests a fax – and a fax only. So save the time it takes to run to the office store and use your phone instead. The Genius Fax app allows you to choose a file from a cloud service like Dropbox or Google Drive to send a fax. You can also receive documents as PDFs via Genius Fax. The app is free in iTunes and Google Play; fees apply for each page sent or received (99 cents or less).
  2. Tired of juggling multiple calendars? The Sunrise Calendar app works with Google Calendar, iCloud and Exchange. Plus you can sync multiple Google Calendars, so no more toggling between personal and business calendars. Also connect your calendar to Facebook to import Facebook events and friends’ birthdays. Add your LinkedIn account so you can see the faces and profiles of people you’re meeting (no more scanning the coffee shop trying to find someone you don’t know). Free in iTunes and Google Play.
  3. Admit it, you have a stack of business cards and receipts piled on your desk. Go paperless with Evernote Scannable. Simply point your camera phone at the document and it immediately captures them. Send documents via email or text or export them as PDF or JPG files or you can save in Evernote or other apps. Goodbye, paper piles! Free in iTunes.
