3 Ways to Ace That Job Interview | Allegiance
March 12, 2018 | Career Blog
You landed an interview for your dream job. You’re on cloud nine and excited to take the next step. Human Resources liked your resume, but the interview is what will seal the deal for you. Interviews can make even the most confident of people feel nervous. However, there are some things you can do to make sure things go smoothly.
Research the company:
You may not know everything about the company (and you won’t be expected too) but you want to go online and do a little research. You will want to the know things about the business’s industry, their competitors, and some recent accomplishments. You don’t want to walk in unprepared for the question, ‘So, why do you want to work for us?’.
Dress to impress:
Even if the work environment is business casual you want to wear a nicely tailored suit to your interview. It is better to be overdressed than underdressed. You only have a few seconds to leave a good first impression with the company, so you don’t want to miss that opportunity to shine. Wearing your suit shows the company that you are a professional and you take your job seriously.
Follow-up:
Believe it or not, many forget to follow-up with a thank you card for the interview. Neglecting this can take you out of the running for the job. Writing a thank you note gives you the chance to express your gratitude for the interviewer’s time. But, you can also touch on some points you may have missed in the meeting itself.
Interviews are exciting and nerve-wracking opportunities. But, with the right tools, you can overcome the nervousness and ace the interview.
